Lucky Number 27

Troy's bday was on a tuesday this year. He was no help whatsoever in telling me what he wanted to do that day so I took it into my own hands and made brownie and ice cream sandwiches at my parents house. Troy ended up really liking them.

It was a small gathering since tuesdays are a little crazy. This is how everybody looked at me when I told them to come eat dessert.

Troy thought he would be funny and blow out the candles before everyone stopped singing so I didn't get the traditional birthday-boy-with-the-candles photo.

Too much sugar and a new friend. This cat is sooo wierd

FRIDAY NIGHT
we went swimming at the infamous Green Canyon hot spring. Rockwell was so funny because we thought he would love it but when we stopped at Charles and Nancy's house to wait for them all he wanted to do was stay and play with Charlie (side note: after we picked him up all he talked about was how Charlie is is "new friend" and has "fun toys") BUT Otto loooooved it and Otto also looooves the camera.

It was awesome to have so many people show up. We were so happy to see everyone who was made it. Below is a terrible (lighting) picture of some of us in the hot pool.

Awww, the birthday boy himself in his element.

See? Point a camera at this kid and he lights up

Fred, Nita, and Julie (I put this on there so you can steal it, Nita)

Chicken fights. I like Troy's karate chop. Jordan, Josh, and Fred are also in the picture. Oh, and the back of Charles's head

It was late and we should have gone to bed but Anna talked us into going to Nielson's custard. Just look at that guilty face

WAY past his bedtime but he liked the custard. Anna took this picture and then said "k that one was.... well, you both looked at the camera"

Way past his bedtime, too. This was the face I got when I told him to smile

any comments, Troy?
"Advice: blowing out the candle's before the birthday song is over won't make the singing go away"

Words to live by. Here's to an older and wiser Troy.

Halloween 2012

This years' party was a small affair-not as small as last year- but it was fun. It was at my Parent's house this year. Thanks everyone for coming

Caree, Ryan, and baby Tidus

The set up. Mom and Dad's new kitchen is a great gathering place

I dressed as Cinderella- I stole the idea and dress from Sarah- and baby clown Otto

Charlie and Rocky. Charlie is Rocky's hero

Clown, Cinderella, Aquaman, and Hobgoblin

Here's his whole costume. I love how it turned out. He was the perfect clown. I used the pajama pattern from the Child Sewing class modified a bit, and made the hat up

This kid would NOT hold still for a picture. You'll just have to get a general idea of what it was throughout the blog post. Here's the inspiration:

He even has muscles an scales but you can't see the details. Oh well. He didn't even know what he was he just knew he felt really cool

We got to go Trick-Or-Treating at Troy's new work (at the bank)

See? He wouldn't hold still. Oh well. Here we are Trick-or-Treating at Troy's cubicle

I'm sad I didn't get pictures from real trick or treating but I forgot the camera. We went to Uncle Jordan's townhouses in Rexburg. It was the first time we took Rockwell and he did pretty well, but I think I was a little more gung-ho than he was and it took a bit to get the hang of it. I don't think he "got" it and i don't blame him (what? all that's all I have to do and they give me candy?)  He's already forgotten about his candy because I hid it and that's good cuz it's already half gone
Happy Halloween!

Memorial Day Weekend

When Troy got a new computer we agreed that he wouldn't delete the pictures from the camera once he uploaded them to his computer so I could upload them to my computer (his old one) and I could blog and whatnot without searching through all his files to find the ones I needed. Finally today I commandeered his computer so I could finally do some updates. First up: this last weekend

Fete De Fromages

or in english: Fancy Cheese party. That's right. Lots of people,  lots of crackers, lots of different types of cheeses, and lots of sparkling cider (which actually tastes really good in-between cheese bites. Now we understand why "cheese and wine" is a common phrase) Notice all the fancy clothes? Can't have a fancy party without fancy clothing.

Mmmmmm, Cheese. They voted and the favorites were the gourmandis, the applewood smoked cheddar,  the smoked gouda, and the herb havarti. Only the truly brave went back for seconds of the bleu cheese and that-one-that-tasted-like-Albertsons-seafood -section.
No one even dared attempt the Idaho shaped cheese.

Like the bow tie? Troy looked all over town for one and where did he find one? In his closet (possibly from his Madison Orchestra tux-wearing days)

Look at all those different types of cheese...

...Want some? It will make you beautiful like us....

Just kidding. Do I look like death warmed over? Cuz I felt like it. I just barely caught a nasty cold this day and was fighting just to stay upright and support my handsome fellow in his crazy antics.

                                                                        Camping
After the Cheese Party we hopped in the car and headed up to Lava Hot Springs for some traditional Memorial Day camping, only to remember we forgot our pillows so we went back. When we got back on the road we were exhausted. I tried my first Rockstar energy drink and let me tell you...I don't know... but I LIKED it. For not being a regular caffeine drinker it was a fun experience and we made it there safely around midnight.
It was freezing, which we were prepared for, and it rained, which we were not so prepared for.
Really we're not very adventurous people and we have Troy's brother Jordan and his wife Anna to thank for putting it all together and loaning us a tent. Here's Rocky, Jordan, Andrew and Alex in the Hot Pot (I was in the tent being sick)

"don't run Rocky. Rockwell, don't run. Hey! Stop running!" He is SO two years old.

Rockwell and Uncle Jordan. They don't look to happy. Oops.

Did I mention it didn't stop raining ONCE? Check out our flooded campsite. So sad. It was so fun but we just couldn't handle the rain and had to come home the next day instead of staying longer like we planned.

More flooding and mud.

Troy looking for rocks for his terrarium.

This little guy was a trooper. He was also sickie and spent almost the whole day in his carseat all wrapped up and sleeping.

One quick picture. It was so cold.

Packed up and ready to go home. I hope we get to go camping again soon because we really would have been quite cozy if it wasn't wet. And Rockwell LOVEd the dirt and the fire and the sticks and the.... well, everything.

So I guess Monday we unpacked and slept and ate our yummy camp food. It was quite an exciting weekend
