Today for Sharing Time The Primary President did a presentation on talents. She had a couple of the primary kids come up and do a talent of theirs. Some sang and others played a instrument. Then she had me come up and show my Pursuit and Flight sculpture, then she had me do a sculpture for everyone. And that is how this came about, it took about 15 min. I was surprised at what came out of it at the end, but then the kids did kind of direct me in it. First they wanted a hat so I gave them the Bojangles hat, and the rest led to the Clown.
Jamba Juice had a half off if you dressed up from the 80's. We were all over at Amanda and Jared Grimmers when we found out about it. So these three dressed up and whent to Jamba Juice. I was Very Proud of Alie for doing something so cool and crazy.
80's Rock was pretty sweet stuff. Here they are doing a Jossie and the Pussy Cats pose. Amanda on drums, Heather on the vocals, and Alie on lead Guitar.
Before any of the 80's craze we made some pizzas with some dough from Craigos. They were really good.

Flight and Pursuit

I thought that we were finally going to get spring in Rexburg. But that was my mistake, it's still march and everyone knows that we will still get snow in april and june and on rare times july. For a little bit the weather was really nice, I'd go to school without a coat. Then my back started to get pains and then my egsima broke out. I just couldn't believe that such nice weather cold get so ugly. but it did, and I was about to change the snow tires.
This is a piece I did for my Book of Mormon mid-term project. My teacher said that we could do an art project if we wanted to, so, no kidding I'd do a sculpture! His father in law is Ed Froughton, the guy who did the sculpture of the guy and girl studying on Ricks campus, the one with the guitar. This piece that I did was after Moroni after all of the Nephites had been destroyed, while he was alone to ensure the completion and preservation of the sacred plates. This will be one of a few moquettes, then I'll do a lager scale and probably call it "The Pursuit", "Flight of The last Nephite", "Flight of Moroni", or just "Flight and Pursuit". I probably should have used references to model the sculpture after. next time I guess.
Here is Pursuit the Lamanite.
As part of Sculpture 380, we do a lot of heads. for this assignment we were to come up with a half sized head and we could use our own references. I've tried doing Transformer heads before and each time was unsuccessful. This time I did a sculpture of a person first and then "transformed" him. I looked at images of Hotrod from the old series and used myself as the model. next time I'd like to do a female Autobot.
Here is Otto the Autobot going through the mold making process. After I put on more layers of silicone and a ridge, i'll cast him in plastic. here with the purple silicone he looks like a decepticon.

Its hard to get Alie on camera. So that is why you don't see Alie very much on the blog. So I'm on a mission, I'm gonna get her caught on film a whole lot more. Another reason I don't get to get her picture up is because we don't get to do very many fun things together or that I forgot my camera. Here Josh Crandall invited us over for a bonfire to make smores. Alie LOVES smores, and I usually end up roasting her smores. But last night I finally ate one of my own.
We are planning on going on a camping trip before I leave to California in three weeks, so We'll get more pictures there. We Plan on going to Howe Idaho to camp at their hot spring that is home to a variety of tropical fish.
Alie and I at Josh's bonfire. ain't she a cutie?
Here is my impression of an otter. Someday I'll have a pair of otters of my own for dive buddies since Alie doesn't like to swim with the fishes.
This is how I achieve such great buoyancy.
Charles, Charlie, Nancy, Brennen and I decided that we wanted to go catch some tropical fish, so we drove down to Howe Idaho to this little hot pot, that is home to theses cool little fishes. There were bright blue ones, blue or orange stripped ones, giant gold fish, mollies, and small mouth bass. We didn't manage to get any of the blue ones to put in Charles tank but we plan on going back. Alison didn't want to come cause somewhere it was said that these fish like to bite you when you're swimming. Aswell, she also had to be part of a school experiment. we took care of the fishes pirana like tendencies by feeding them old fruit loops.
This is my self portrait bas relief. note the cool belt buckle. Just click on the picture to enlarge it.

I am in the process of getting certified in Scuba Diving. This here was at Belmont hot springs in Utah. the water was 91 degrees and it was about 40 degrees out of the water. I have one more week and then I get my certification.

The only time that you can swim here is in the winter, because in the summer it gets over 100 degrees in the water.

The hot spring has a sunken/floating platform out in the middle of the spring. the platform is suspended up on these chains and 100 gallon drums. the actual platform is about 20 feet down, and with the amount of elevation it technically counts as a 30 ft dive to the platform. You can dive down another 10 or 15 feet but the water would burn you. And if you fancy the idea of that, you might as well take some potatos, cabbage, and salt down with you while you're at it. hopefully that doesn't sound to good to anyone 'cause that's just wrong.
Here is another study for head sculpture, it took a total of 6 hours to do this particular study.

This little guy is awesome! Aaron sent me an email of these mutated animals. So I found some more.

This sculpture was a one day in class assignment, he looks kinda serious.

This Brian Reagan at his show in Blackfoot that Alison bought a ticket for my birthday. It was way funny and all of his stuff was new.

These are my brother in laws at the show in blackfoot. the tall blond guy whose name is Derik married Alison's Cousin Samantha Barnes.
