Pulled Over
I was driving home from my riding lessons, which had gone great and I suppose I was still on the horse because all of a sudden.... lights in my rearview mirror. My speedometer? 35 in a 25 zone. So I pulled into the Maverick. The officer comes up. My window is broken and doesn't roll down so I had to open my door. Awkward! After pointing out my speed he starts asking me where I've been, what I've been doing, and why I was speeding. 2I try answering him, but I'm so flustered at being pulled over and still so wound up from riding horses that I can hardly make my brain form words for my mouth to chew. He looks at me and says "you're eyes are a little red... and bloodshot. Are you on any medication?" Well it was windy and dusty and I'm still living in the old days with hard contact lenses so of course my eyes are red and bloodshot. I tried to explain this to him but I don't know that he believed me. I considered telling him there's proof of it on my drivers license but I decided that might sound smart-alec-y so I did't. I was still rummaging for my proof of insurance but I could only find old ones and wondered why I didn't put the new one in my car until he pointed out I was looking at the wrong date and I was in fact holding my current insurance card. Luckily he was quite nice to me. But to top it all off in our jockey box is a white plastic bag with a small box in it. He said "just out of curiosity, what's in the bag?" I knew it was car parts but my brain and my mouth were still on hold with each other so I pulled it out "oh, spark plugs. Car trouble?" "yeah" I replied" its's a pain". I thought for sure he would pull me out of the car and I would walk a line, fingers on my nose, ABC's or something but he must have been convinced I was just an idiot. He took my papers back to his cop car, came back and told me to be careful and I would save lots of money if I didn't speed on that road. I was so relieved he didn't give me a ticket, but I think I deserved one because the real reason I was speeding? the one I couldn't explain to him? I was happy. I was wound up from my horseback riding lessons and apparently that transfered to my foot pushing to hard on the gas.
In the Trailerhood
I've always wanted to do a kind of block party in our neighborhood so when other neighbors expressed an interest I jumped on it and surprisingly became the driving force behind it (i'm usually the following force) A bunch of young couples in our trailerhood got together and we had a barbeque!
Here's the men firing up the grill

The Women chatting while the men fire up the grill

We told people "bring your own meat and something to share" and it turned out really well. Some desserts, some drinks, and some chips. Perfect! The only glitch was we didn't assign anyone to bring forks or cups.

I was really surprised and happy that everyone came, especially since it was so windy. It was so much fun to get to know some of the new and old couples in our street. There was even talk about doing again soon!

P.S. Thanks Fred and Nita for letting us use your grill and front yard

One Quick Thought
So I've read a few posts recently of individuals talking about how sometimes reading their friend's people's depresses them because the posts on said blogs only portray how perfect/ideal/euphoric their lives are. I've come across similar blogs and I agree that they are somewhat obnoxious. I sincerely hope our blog isn't annoying like this and especially hope it doesn't make anyone feel bad. I do try to keep this blog real but focus on the good things that happen in our lives (because the opposite, people who only write about downer stuff, are annoying too) but I don't feel comfortable sharing all our little ups and downs and personal everythings on here because, let's face it, it's still the internet and other than the 23 (wonderful and much appreciated) people who follow this blog, I don't really know who reads it and that stuff is personal. I want anyone who reads this blog to know that we fight, we are exhausted by the end of the day, little things frustrate us, we have opinions, we get discouraged, frustrated, bored, angry, and have our share of trials. We are just private kind of people who choose not to blog about them all the time.
FFF- recent acheivements
I know I haven't done a Fun Fact Friday for a while and, believe it or not, it's not because I forgot. It was because we didn't have anything else to blog about and I didn't want a whole bunch of FFF in a row. I'm still trying to find a niche for these like Nancy and Audrey did so they are kind of random now. We'll try a theme this week. This week's theme is: This week's accomplishments. This is Fun Fact Friday show-off style. (next week we'll try to be more humble)

Troy: Troy finished the Green House he built from scratch this week. It's complete with a rain system, a shelf, and walkway. It's pretty amazing. I'll let him do a whole post about it later

Alison went to her horseback riding lessons (more on that later) and successfully trotted and loped bare back (see picture of trotting).

Rockwell worked on eating like a calf and balancing with just one hand. He'll be walking before we know it.
Yep, it was a pretty eventful week here at our house. Have a great weekend everyone!
