Well, not too much has been going on at our house. Troy is working at Merlin's now with Fred delivering tv's all over creation. He still works at Gringo's a couple nights a week. It keeps him pretty busy but most days he enjoys it. I'm back in school. I'm excited to finally be starting into my major classes. It's amazing how much more interesting school is when you start learning the things you signed up to learn.

This was just a fun picture of Jelli and Icarus. They come out at night and leave their baby in the cage so they can play.

When Troy's dad Leon found out I'd never caught a fish in my life, he offered to take us. On Labor day we went to Teton river.

Leon's fish- pretty good!

Troy caught a couple fish. This is one of them.
We all caught a few but let most of them go. These are the ones we kept and toted around the whole morning. Aren't fish disgusting? I hate them.

Ok, everyone has their fishing stories, and now I have one and I'm so excited. I caught a fish my first cast, a smallish one, then another one we let go. Then I didn't catch any and moved down river where I still didn't catch any. Then Leon came down river, but a new worm on my hook (I couldn't get the hang of it for the life of me. And it was so nasty I just couldn't) And he said "you better brace your feet because this is it, you're gonna catch a huge one". So I cast twice, and the third time I looked at him and said "Ok, this is it" I cast and caught the biggest fish of the day! It was 17 1/2 inches long. It was so exciting. (this was the good picture after I made all sorts of faces at how gross it was, but I was still way excited) After a few more hours of fishing we built a fire and cooked most of them right there on the bank. I hate fish, but this tasted soooo good. Thanks Leon for taking us!

Happy Anniversary to Us!

We made it a whole year! Yay! What a year it's been. We've found there are some advantages to being married as we've been able to do a lot of fun things together including some we've never done before. Here's a list of some things we get to do now that we're married:
  • Buy a bottomless popcorn bucket at the movie theater and eat as much as you want without having to pass it between ten people
  • cohabitate with exotic animals.
  • Go to the zoo and spend as long as you want looking at the otters and tigers
  • Move to a foreign country- or at least down south, which pretty much is foreign
  • live in a trailer park and like it
  • paint your walls cool colors
  • eat ice cream and french fries for dinner
  • Watch movies all night with your best friend without a curfew
  • flirt shamelessly
  • drink straight out of the carton
  • go to the temple together
  • Argue about silly things like the best way to wash the dishes
  • pillow fight
  • take those funny pictures in the booth at the mall
  • Try new recipies
  • Eat year old cake with crazy fondant frosting
  • Read comic books during breakfast, lunch AND dinner

A Trip to the Zoo

One thing we have in common is our love and fascination with other creatures. So as part of our anniversary holiday we went to the zoo. It was fun that we both got excited about the animals and no one was there to make fun of us.
Look, we're in the monkey cage!
Troy wasn't content with just watching the otters, he wanted to swim with them. So sad.
Taming the lion.
He's not so tame as we thought
Our anniversary hotel was right across from the Idaho Falls falls.

In front of the lemur cage.

We found an old man hiding in the trees.
This monkey had so much personality. He came up to greet us.
Sad little skunk monkey.
We don't have cable, and we don't own very many movies, so the majority of our entertainment comes from our pets. They almost never let us down, and there's never any re-runs.
Good old Monster likes to play fetch, burrow under the covers, and hide behind corners to attack us.
He's growing up to be a very handsome, crazy kitty who lives up to his name.
Jelly is so feminine. She found a toy purse and carried it around a bit.
So are we getting a motorcycle or what?

We LOVE watching these guys fly. We took about 20 pictures before we finally got this one, but it was worth it. Getting them to jump when you want them to and then hitting the camera button right before they jump to catch them mid-flight. It's all part the amusement. This is Icarus.
Jelly in flight. One person holds the gliders and tries to get them to jump while the other person holds the camera ready underneath. If we can get Jelly to do something, Icarus will usually follow. We took this picture right after the other one and didn't get any more good ones all night.

This is Shangrila.
honorary Otter Dive off of Ursa Major
Unawares...
This is me doing a flying squirrel dive off of Ursa Minor
This is The Jet. The coolest place ever! the water is so warm, no joke, it's comfortable to swim in. And there are two different cliffs to jump from, Ursa minor and Ursa Major. but this feature here in this picture is the jet itself. it is a rapid that is collected from a long stretch of shallow water heated up by the river rocks, and then condenses into a ten foot deep rapid that sucks you down and runs you along close to the bottom and then carries you for about ten to fifteen seconds and then spits you up. however you can swim to the surface earlier than that. the current isn't that strong.  This place is soo fun!
